Day 15, we depart Show Low for Gallup New Mexico. This morning an article on the project made the front page of Yahoo Sports, resulting in hundreds of emails, delaying our departure for nearly two hours.

Day 14, we depart the 108 degree heat in Phoenix for the cooler White Mountains of Northern Arizona. The 174 mile ride included riding over 5 passes, totaling 38 miles with 8,556 in total elevation gain.

Day 13, a day off in Phoenix as the students prepare for the ride to Denver and Kansas City, leaving tomorrow morning (Tuesday, July 25) at 4:30AM.

Day 12, the students arrived in Phoenix, Arizona, at noon on July 23, after riding 110 miles, much of it in 112 degree heat. To make the pre-game event, the group left outside of Kingman, Arizona at 5:00AM. They were acknowledged in a pre-game ceremony at the Arizona Diamondbacks game, and after the game the entire Diamondbacks team signed the bat and guest book for Buck O'Neil.

Day 11, the riders entered Kingman, Arizona after riding a 187 mile leg in temperatures that averaged over 100 degrees.

Day 10, the group rode from Lone Pine, California to Pahrump, Nevada, through Death Valley where the temperature was 120 degrees in the shade. Teacher Gary Thomsen was the solo rider through the valley due to the excessive heat, with the students riding the route outside the valley.
